I just got the Schatz STP dirt car and I instantly fell in love with it.  The only reason i bought it in the first place was because I've always loved the STP orange, but now that I see it, WOW.  So I'm new to dirt racing.  I've been to a few races at the local track, but never really paid attention to the drivers names, minus maybe a few local celebrities around here.
So, I'm guessing my question is two things.  First, who to watch?  I don't know anything about the drivers, whose big, whose not, and so forth.  I mean Kinser, and the NASCAR guys obviously are big names, but that's it for me.  Is there somewhere I should start looking/reading?
Second, what cars should I look for to build a collection.  What are some of the coolest pieces out there?  I have in my collection the Schatz, a Yeley, a Irwin and a J. Gordon.  Is there any benefit to one brand over another (MA/Action vs R&R vs Racing Champions).
I'm really a n00b to this.

What type of dirt fan are you? Sprints/ Dirt Late Models/ Dirt Mods/ Midgets?  As far as where to find more infom here are a few good website to start with:

World of Outlaws Site: http://www.worldofoutlaws.com/
Midget Racing: http://www.midgetmadness.com/
All Kinds of Dirt racing info on HoseHeads: http://hoseheads.com/
You will probably find all you need to know at househead.

Another great dirt site is Indiana Open Wheel: http://www.indianaopenwheel.com/

Here is another good dirt car site: http://4m.net/

As for what you should collect. Collect what you like and you cannot go wrong.

When it comes to dirt cars there are really only two names you need to know, R&R Enterprises and ADC.

R&R Enterprises offers 1/18 and 1/24 Sprints and 1/18 Midgets.  Great cars as you already know for the Schatz car.

ADC offers both 1/24 Dirt Late Models and 1/24 Dirt Modifieds.  ADC has great quality on all of their diecasts.

Hope this helps.
